Studio Policy
The VioLinn Studio PolicY
Here is an abridged version of my policy and which is meant to give you an idea of what to expect when we work together. Please contact me for more specific information!
LESSON COSTS & PAYMENT
Lessons are organized in three month sessions which include 9 private lessons, 1 master class, 6 group lessons, 1 recital rehearsal & 1 recital.
Book 1 student lessons are 30 minutes.
Book 2 and 3 student lessons are 45 minutes.
Book 4 and up students lessons are 60 minutes.
Students also have the option of 75 or 90 minute lessons.
The cost of each three month session will be dependent on the duration of lesson which is appropriate for the student.
Payment is due at the first lesson of each session. Monthly installments can be arranged.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Fall, winter or spring private lessons: Lessons missed by the student are non-refundable. However, the student has a few options: to switch lesson times with other students, donate their lesson or get on a "make up list," should an opening arise.
Summer lessons: Please inform me at least one week in advance if you expect to miss a lesson in order to avoid a lesson fee.
Lessons missed by me for any reason will be made-up or tuition refunded.
TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES
As a teacher, I will keep the Suzuki philosophy in my heart and mind. I will do my best to be inspiring, nurturing, specific, and persistent.
I am committed to life-long learning and am keenly interested in improving my abilities as a violinist and violin teacher. To this end, I will continue studying the violin and violin pedagogy and I will attend conferences and workshops.
PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Parents will read Nurtured by Love by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki.
The parent will attend each lesson.
Parents are key in providing a home environment that nurtures the student’s musical abilities.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
The student is expected to prepare for each lesson by:
Practicing daily at home. The expected time will vary based on the level of ability.
Listening to the reference recordings at least once a day.
The student is expected to listen to other classical music and to attend local concerts.
The student is expected to respect his/her teacher, parent and classmates.
