About

About My Background and Training

I earned my Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory, Master of Music from the North Carolina School of the Arts and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin. I remain indebted to all the wonderful people who have nurtured me in my musical journey, especially to my Suzuki teachers and mentors, Barbara Barber and Brian Lewis. Living in Austin, I teach and freelance as well as perform with Houston-based orchestra ROCO.

I have completed Suzuki violin teacher training and several enrichment courses with Barbara Barber, Joanne Bath, Mark Bjork, Ronda Cole, Carol Dallinger, Linda Fiore, Joseph Kaminsky, Edward Kreitman, Charles Krigbaum, Cathy Lee, Susan Levine, Alice Joy Lewis, Brian Lewis, Mark Mutter, Marilyn O’Boyle, Laurie Scott, Linda Shackford, Edmund Sprunger, William Starr and Craig Timmerman. I love continuing education and regularly participate in the Starling-DeLay Symposium on Violin Studies at Juilliard and at the biennial conferences of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. I have taught at Suzuki institutes and workshops in Colorado, Kansas, Texas and Utah and have had a number of articles published by the American Suzuki Journal and the American String Teacher.

When not involved in violin activities, I enjoy time with my family and dog, traveling, reading, gardening, yoga, and cooking with my husband, Nick. Two of my newest hobbies are cycling and studying Suzuki harp. I would also love to tell you about the music ministry in Cuba with which I am involved!
